2006-07-22 [Azuri]: Under wicca is the oldest religions "please not(e) the sarcastic tone"
2006-07-22 [Delladreing]: Cheers love.
2006-07-23 [Linn Scarlett]: i am so glad i am not a wicca.... *bangs head-desk* i throttled some twit this morning when at work (ok almost)
2006-07-23 [Delladreing]: well done
2006-07-23 [Linn Scarlett]: yeah he had the nerve to call me a fake because i wear mjölnr instead of that stupid pentacle around my neck.
2006-07-23 [Rondel]: Silly me -- I wear... ...er... ...skin? And sometimes clothes? (Especially in the winter...) Oh, and sometimes jewellery, some of which is religious in nature, and some of which isn't. But I don't exactly measure my religion by what I'm wearing. That would be weird.
2006-07-23 [Rondel]: P.S. I swear, the next time some little twit points at one of my necklaces (I design and make them myself, out of semiprecious stones, and yes, some of them were made for a purpose, and some weren't) and asks "what does that do?", I'm going to reply with the riddle about "What did the necktie (or necklace) say to the hat?". (A: "You go on a head, I'll just hang around.") For what it's worth, two (no, wait, make that 4) of my favourite pieces of religious jewellery would not be identifiable to the average Playgan. One is a Celtic Birthing Egg (given me while I was pregnant, by a Jewish friend, made by a friend of his who was part of a group called "Wild Women Working Metal"), another is
2006-07-23 [Rondel]: a double spiral (in copper, 3 points extra to anyone who can identify the significance of this juxtaposition), a third is a quartered circle, and the last has reproductions of Lascaux cave paintings on it. Paganism does not start and end with the pentacle.
2006-07-23 [Azuri]: *nods* I have one small pentacle with a little stone in the middle and I still have to find a long enough chain that it would hang below most of my shirt lines. I like the necklace but being in the south(expecially the bible belt) it is smart to conseal anything that isnt a cross not that I wouldnt do it anyway.
2006-07-24 [Linn Scarlett]: I am so glad half the world doesnt even recognize half of my necklaces ^_^
2006-07-24 [Linn Scarlett]: I've a necklace with a small hunting horn on it, a symbol for heimdall, given to me by my best friend after my bf had broken up with me. it's for guidance and rest-at-ease. I've a necklace with Mjölnr off course (some people do recognize this one, but the others hardly). Aside from those two I've a small norse cross and a ring in the shape of a snake grasping it's tail.
2006-07-24 [Linn Scarlett]: other than those connected with religion, ive a bunch of semi norse and celtic related jewelry, but thats just because i like the knotwork and art
2006-11-15 [deus-misereatur]: Haha very clever
2006-11-15 [Delladreing]: Thanks.
2006-11-27 [Linn Scarlett]: by th eway dela, i was pretty sure male witches were called warlocks :/
2006-11-27 [Delladreing]: Heh, not really no...as Warlock means "oath breaker" I think. Warlock is more insulting than anything.
2006-12-05 [Linn Scarlett]: Must be why I like it XD it always got trown in with necromancy in the fantasy I read :P Because as far as I know a wizard can have both sexes, same goes for mage and such (theres no such thing as a 'wizardress' as I once heard XD) the only thing I know is male, is warlock, atleast I thought *confused now* :/
2006-12-05 [Delladreing]: Meh, its a form of insult really. all the male witches I have known either like to be called a "druid" or a greencoat, but that's specific to my own sect.
2006-12-06 [Linn Scarlett]: good point XD the only male witch that i know that wants to be named (the others don't really like being called any other word than their given name) says witch is just fine -but then again he's gay :P
2006-12-06 [Delladreing]: Meh. My ex, who doesnt always like letting people know what his tradition is actually called doesn't mind being called a witch either, and he is not gay :P
2006-12-06 [*~`Lady of Avalon`~*]: You talk of gardner book can you give a title please I'm more itrested in herbal lore than anything and certain reliogons have kept the teachings alive and I would like to know more about the druid and other such religons
2006-12-06 [*~`Lady of Avalon`~*]: Hecate isn't that the greek patern goddress of the one land at the end of the world that jason had to go to get the Golden fleece or some thing
2006-12-06 [Delladreing]: The Meaning of Witchcraft, and, Witchcraft Today.
If you are interested in Herb Lore, then the Real Witches series by Kate West, such as the Real Witches Garden, and Real Witches Kitchen, I found to be rather good for beginners.
Encyclopaedia of Magical Herbs (Llewellyn's Sourcebook Series)
Encyclopaedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham is also a good reference book.
2006-12-06 [Delladreing]: Uhm, what?
2006-12-06 [Delladreing]: "Hecate, Hekate (Hekátē), or Hekat was originally a goddess of the wilderness and childbirth originating from Thrace, or among the Carians of Anatolia. Popular cults venerating her as a mother goddess integrated her persona into Greek culture as Ἑκάτη. In Ptolemaic Alexandria she ultimately achieved her connotations as a goddess of sorcery and her role as the 'Queen of Ghosts', in which guise she was transmitted to post-Renaissan
for anyone that is interested.

For once wikipedia is quite accurate I believe.
2006-12-06 [*~`Lady of Avalon`~*]: Thank you I'll try that
2006-12-06 [sequeena_rae]: Ah, got to love the wikipedia <3
2006-12-06 [Azuri]: Wikipedia is the Wal-mart(big shopping place that has everything but what you need) of the internet, you go in for one thing and come out with a billion others.
2008-09-01 [Linn Scarlett]: Mostly, yeah, the interlinking gets to you I swear :p
2009-01-08 [Azuri]: It really is!
2009-01-10 [Yami]: I can't stand the ignnrancy of some people, could you believe that I was once asked if I was Gothlick? (No that's not a typo, they actually said gothlick)
2009-01-10 [Azuri]: *blink blink* Gothlick? wtf?
2009-01-10 [Yami]: Yeah I know!
2009-07-02 [TobyE]: hey you cleared up alot of things about wicca and paganism and this is awesome!! ^__^ i'm currently conforming and getting sick of hearing its all nature when i know damn well its more then that. any book suggestion on where i can learn the actual facts about paganism? and any tips on getting the annoying brats that i know to shut the f*** up about being modern day *cough* hippies *cough* i mean, wiccans lol
2009-07-02 [Delladreing]: If you want facts/history about Paganism "The Triumph Of The Moon" as for books that teach paganism, well, it depends on what kind of paganism you are interested in.
As for getting people to shut up, try to calmly point out all the new things you've learned, but really you can't make any one actually shut up. You can only hope they will listen. Better yet just stop talking to them :P
And I'm glad you have found my pages informative :)
2009-07-03 [Linn Scarlett]: Oh you can, but you wouldn't want to do that. You should get people for that! >:P
2009-07-04 [TobyE]: i just find teens with upside down stars in a circle saying i'm a satanist... no wait, pagan annoying because i know there is so much more to it then i symbol and i find wearing a symbol with no understood meaning insulting to those who have learned it and practiced it for years.
2009-07-04 [Delladreing]: Teens do that. I'm not saying they should, but they do, the best you can do is say "well actually, You're Wrong" and then try to explain. It's worse when it's a supposedly mature adult doing it though.
2009-07-06 [TobyE]: true, cause when thier parents do it they start throwing even more of a fit. i've tried just explaining what i know then giving them a book referance when i dont know. but i dont want to ramble on about things i'm not sure about
